Sky Marks

By Brent Kelley, About.com

Definition: Sky marks are the scratches to the finish of the crown of a driver or fairway wood that results from hitting skyballs. Sky marks can often be buffed out, but too many (or too severe) of them and the crown of the driver will permanently show the results of the mis-hits.
