Shazam is a putting only-game, where players bet on the chance that an opponent will three-putt a green.Once a player has reached the green and at any time before he putts, one or more of the other players in the group may call out "Shazam." This forces a bet on the player with each person who called Shazam.
If the player three-putts the green, he loses the bet (stakes agreed upon before the game, usually $1). If he four-putts, he loses double the bet. If he sinks the putt, he wins double the bet. If he two-putts, no money changes hands.
Players may call Shazam again after the first putt, if the person is still far enough away that a three-putt is possible. Shazam can be called any time before the player addresses the ball.
A player may also Shazam himself if he is outside one flagstick-length from the hole, thereby forcing a bet with all other members of the group. If he sinks the putt, he wins the bet, but loses double if he three putts.
Since handicaps do not factor into the betting, this game is most appropriate for players with similar skill levels.
