That's Hipp as in Linda Hipp, a well-known Canadian fashion designer whose previous collections have appeared under the Hyp Golf brand.
The Lija Spring 2005 collection includes 160 pieces in four color groups, dubbed Water, Earth, Fire and Wind. ... Earth, Wind and Fire? Lija is definitely no bogey wonderland. Nope, par for the course in this collection are pieces that, in the company's words, "take a playful, glamorously retro view of the leisure life, showcasing a distinct, bold color palette."
Hipp's designs for the inaugural Lija collection include glamorous silhouettes and casual looks and run the gamut from pretty floral prints to plaids and graphics.
"The Lija Spring 2005 collection exudes individuality and a unique flair in anyone that wears the clothes," says Linda Hipp. "These pieces help you look great and feel confident whether youre at work, on the golf course or out with friends."
There's no question that Hipp's work in the Lija collection is striking. The pieces all but yell out "cool," and anyone showing up at the golf course wearing Lija is sure to draw admiring glances.
Hipp's clothing is currently sold in more than 750 on- and off-course retailers throughout North America, including Marshall Fields and Nordstrom department stores. The Lija website is not fully functional as of this writing, but will be located at www.lijastyle.com.
Here is how the company describes the four lines in the Lija 2005 Spring collection:
Water
"Beautiful shades of teal and mint are paired with muted tones of tan and khaki to create a rich, subtle collection of golf and sportswear. Water is showing bold prints including plaids, stripes and a hint of floral. Lightweight cable knits, soft stretch knits with sporty stripes, smart A-line skirts, fitted Bermuda shorts and Capri pants gives an air of elegant feminine 1940s style inspired by classic icons such as Katherine Hepburn."
Earth
"Picking daisies, playing golf, going sailing all in a hard days work. Earth offers the feeling of playful, carefree summer days going back to younger years with lightweight seersucker, a whimsical retro daisy print for polos, cable knit sweaters, oversized floral prints and a beautiful butter plaid print that ties the group together. Earth is based on the bold and elegant colors of surf, grass and butter, paired with classic navy and white. Play in confidence with any of the distinctive, feminine polo shirts with unique detailing such as oversized buttons, cap sleeves, pocketing and contrast detailing."
Fire
"Fire hints at an elegant yet sporty chic created for a lifestyle filled with social engagements that go far beyond golf. Bold colors of red, blush and apricot are blended with unique prints such as stripes, seersucker and florals. The group offers feminine, fitted yet comfortable designs including skirts, skorts, dresses, shorts of all lengths, Capri pants, knits and polos. Snap closures, detachable collars, oversized buttons and contrast piping are a few of the fashionable, distinctive details that separates Lijas unique individuality."
Wind
"Wind, a very distinct Collection among Lija's Spring 2005 offerings, has been developed to appeal to the more "extreme" golfer. All styles have been designed with technical fabrications and detailing for ultimate comfort, protection and style. Rich pewter and violet are matched with traditional black and white for a simplistic, chic European inspired Collection. Mesh and rip stop textures are prominent as well as unique detailing including off-centre reversed zippers, hidden zip pockets, double zip front jackets, and racerback polos. Enhancing the "fashion" element to our technical Collection has been fundamental to providing the golf market with an inspirational, unique and feminine inspired product."
