The r7 Limited offers a greater influence on side-to-side trajectory, eschews draw bias in the face angle, and has an expansive, triangular clubhead, compared to previous r7 drivers.
The r7 SuperQuad, for example, promotes a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 28 yards, according to TaylorMade, and depending on how its movable weights are employed. The r7 Limited promotes up to 35 yards of side-to-side trajectory change.
The r7 Limited employs only three weights, one 16-gram and two 1-gram weights. With its neutral face angle, configuring the weights is simple:
- For a shot to bend to the right, use the 16-gram weight in the toe.
- For a shot to bend to the left, use the 16-gram weight in the heel.
- For no draw or fade bias to the trajectory, use the 16-gram weight in the middle port.
The r7 Limited drivers come with a 60-gram graphite Matrix XCon 5.5 MOI shaft. Men's and women's lofts are 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees, plus men's left-handed in 9.5 and 10.5. The MSRP is $500 and the TaylorMade r7 Limited drivers will hit retail stores on Sept. 15, 2008.
