You probably know what the "TP" in the name of TaylorMade's Z TP wedge stands for - "Tour Preferred," natch. What about the "Z"? That's for the "Z grooves" used on the clubface. TaylorMade names its groove designs by letters of the alphabet. Its previous grooves were "Y grooves," so the new ones are "Z grooves."

The Z grooves have 10-percent more volume than the Y grooves, intended to help channel away debris that could deaden spin. Therefore, the Z TP wedge, according to TaylorMade, produces more spin than previous Y-groove wedges.

The Z TP wedge is available in lofts of 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 degrees, with the 54-, 56- and 58-degree models featuring a C-grind sole designed to make it easier to open the clubface.

The MSRP, beginning in April, 2008, is $140 per club. Visit taylormadegolf.com, or compare prices for TaylorMade equipment.
