Srixon is adding to its lineup in several different club categories. Here's a rundown of what's coming from Srixon:
W-506 Driver
Srixon uses a proprietary construction, what it calls the Impact Power Body, in its drivers. The W-506, at 450cc clubhead volume, is the largest driver Srixon has made to date with the IPB.
"Impact Power Body" means that that the sole and backwall of the driver, not just its face, have varying thicknesses. This construction is based on something called "recoil theory." According to Srixon's research, the Impact Power Body construction allows the entire head of the driver to deform at impact. This keeps the ball on the clubface a fraction of a second longer, according to Srixon (and recoil theory), leading to reduced spin and a higher launch.
The Srixon W-506 Driver's varying-thickness clubface also produces a high, large-diameter sweet zone. The zone extends from the high toe to the low heel, corresponding with the most common strike patterns.
Srixon's "Autoturn" design is also employed in the W-506 driver: the center of gravity moves progressively toward the heel as the loft increases. Srixon says this makes it easier to square the higher lofts at impact for slower swing-speed golfers who typically favor the higher lofts.
The W-506 driver is available in right-handed lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 11.5 degrees and carries an MSRP of $399.
I-506 Irons
The Srixon I-506 irons employ the company's tour back cavity design and are forged from soft 1025 mild carbon steel. The I-506 irons have a classic blade profile with a thin topline and minimal offset and are designed to offer the feedback and response that better players look for in their shotmaking.
These clubs have a lower and deeper center of gravity, helping to promote a higher launch angle, a penetrating ball flight, and more forgiveness on off-center hits. The center of gravity is also placed at a constant distance from the shaft line throughout the set.
The I-506 irons come standard with True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts. RH and LH sets both come in 2 through PW and carry an MSRP of $999.
P-500 Series Putters
Srixon's P-500 Series includes two putters, the P-513 and P-514. Both are striking in design (click on driver photo above to see photos of both putters), the P-513 having a black body with a "pentagram" shape and triple sightlines; the P-514 having a red body and T-bar shape.
Both putters are designed to maximize the moment of inertia (resistance to twisting) to keep the clubhead square on off-center hits. Both feature lightweight aluminum bodies that allow for a larger clubhead mass. Stainless steel weights are then added to the mix, strategically inserted around the perimeters of both putters. An extremely soft aluminum alloy face insert completes the package.
Both putters are offered at 34 inches in length, right-handed, and carry MSRPs of $200 each.
