Nakashima is a premium equipment manufacturer that began as a small "boutique" clubmaker but has seen its profile greatly enhanced by the NP-1 driver.
With the NP-1 Fairway Metals, Nakashima focused on offering a precisely located center of gravity, one that is deep and low, to create an optimum high launch for maximum carry distance. The NP-1 Fairway Metals also feature a 2-piece, "face-pull" construction, a method that Nakashima says decreases energy loss at impact, thereby maximizing the amount of energy delivered to the ball.
The NP-1 Fairway Metals come in four lofts, the Strong 3 (13 degrees), 3 (15 degrees), 5 (19 degrees) and 7 (23 degrees).
Nakashime's new NP-R Utility Metal Woods (the NP-R2, NP-R3 and NP-R4) are specifically designed to replace the 2-, 3- and 4-irons in a golfer's bag.
Its NP-R Utility Metal Woods feature a "hot" forged face with variable face thickness, which Nakashima says provides the highest ball velocity off the clubface. The clubs also utilize Nakashima's proprietary "Super Micro Grain" forging process, which the company credits for creating a sound and feel that have proved very popular.
"Each week we hear more and more reports of Tour players using 'Utility' or 'Rescue' clubs out on the professional golf circuit and it really makes a lot of sense (to add them)," said Nakashima Golf founder and president John Nakashima. "These clubs are easier to hit, can be used out of trouble and are just as accurate as the long irons that we all struggle with. If you add the fact that you can chip really well with these clubs, then it makes all the sense in the world to have one or two in your bag."
The NP-R2 features a loft of 19 degrees; the NP-R3, 22 degrees; and the NP-R4, 25 degrees.
