Nakashima Putting Irons to the Fire

Company Introduces its First-Ever Iron Set

Nakashima Golf has built its growing reputation on drivers. Now, the company is ready to start growing in another direction with the introduction of its first-ever set of irons.

The Nakashima NX-5 Irons are mid-sized, game-improvement irons. They are cast from high-grade 303 stainless steel, then coin-forged to provide a smoother grain and better feel.

The NX-5 Irons feature a slight offset, but still retain a clean leading edge - a feature the company expects will help the irons appeal to low handicappers, too.

The new irons also feature feature a CNC milled face and grooves. While this process significantly adds to the manufacturing cost, Nakashima explains, the process provides better consistency of ball flight and longer lasting grooves. Each NX-5 iron will feature the Japanese characters Nakashima, which means "middle island."

"I am very proud to introduce our first set of irons, the Nakashima NX-5's," Nakashima founder and president John Nakashima said. "The NX-5's should be a great game improvement iron set for the mid-handicapper, but it was important to us that the better golfers out there should like to look and setup of this product and be accepting of it."
