Cobra Launches King Cobra Fairway Metals

By Brent Kelley, About.com

Oct 4 2004
Shortly after launching the King Cobra Comp driver, Cobra Golf is now ready with the King Cobra Comp Fairway Metals.

Like the driver, the fairway metals feature an ultra-lightweight, carbon composite top. The new fairway club line includes six fairway metals, in lofts ranging from 13 to 24 degrees, all of which feature Cobra's exclusive rhombus face technology and the Cobra dual weighting system.

The King Cobra Comp Fairways feature a composite woven crown constructed of carbon fiber. The lightweight material is approximately 10 grams lighter than the conventional steel fairway crown, allowing the weight to be redistributed low and in the back of the clubhead. A Dual Weighting System promotes a deeper Center of Gravity that produces a larger sweet spot for higher trajectory and greater carry distance. The weight savings also allows for a deeper, wider face for greater forgiveness. A center rhombus-shaped face pad, positioned within a larger, thinner face perimeter, promotes greater face flex for faster ball speeds and forgiveness on both center and off-center hits.

The new King Cobra Comp Fairway Metals line includes lofts of: 13.0 (3+), 15.5 (3), 16.5 (4), 18.0 (5), 21.0 (7) and 24.0 (9) degrees. All of the clubs feature the Cobra/Graphite Design YS 5.1 ultra-lightweight 55 gram shaft with low to medium tip stiffness to promote a high-launch draw bias ball flight.

The King Cobra Comp Fairway Metals carry an MSRP of $270.
