The J33 line of clubs from Bridgestone Golf represents that company's latest and best offerings. And now there are new versions from which consumers can choose.
Bridgestone recently announced that a new driver, utility woods and wedges are being added to the J33 lineup. Here's a brief look at each new addition:
Bridgestone J33R Driver: The J33R actually already existed in the Bridgestone lineup; the new version, however, is larger and hotter. The new J33R is 460cc in clubhead volume (the original 420cc size is still available) and offers the maximum COR and a face that is hotter across a larger area.
Like all of the Bridgestone J33 series drivers, the new J33R 460cc features an elastomer compound insert within the clubhead, which is designed to reduce vibration in the crown, sole and face of the club. The new club also uses Bridgestone's patented Low Modulus (Thin) Crown, which flexes slightly at impact to add loft to the clubhead. This effect is designed to enhance vertical gear effect, which then, according to Bridgestone, leads to a higher launch and less spin off the tee.
The J33R 460cc driver will be available in fall of 2005 and carry and MSRP of $499.
Bridgestone J33 Utility Woods: Bridgestone's hybrid offering in the J33 lineup had been limited to the Airmuscle Utility Irons. Now, a more wood-like utility club is available, hence the name: J33 Utility Woods. If you feel more comfortable with a hybrid that looks and plays more like a fairway wood than an iron, this is the choice among Bridgestone's product line.
J33 Utility Woods feature 17-4 stainless steel clubheads and, like the drivers, utilize an elastomer compound insert to dampen vibration at impact and improve energy transfer.
Tungsten weights in the soles of the clubs lower the center of gravity to make it easier to get the ball airborne and increase trajectory. Also of note is the Tour Camber Sole design, which reduces turf resistance. According to Bridgestone, the J33 Utility Woods can help reduce "the tendency to hook that is commonplace among users of other hybrid clubs."
The J33 Utility Woods will be available in fall of 2005 with an MSRP of $249 each.
Bridgestone J33 Forged Black Satin Wedges: The existing J33 Forged Wedges are now joined by the J33 Forged Black Satin Wedges. The new black satin finish helps reduce glare.
The Black Satin Wedges are forged from 1020 mild carbon steel and use U-grooves. The soft feel and grooves lead to increased spin and control on approach shots. These wedges also have a longer hosel, designed to raise the center of gravity for higher spin, lower trajectory and more control.
The J33 Forged Black Satin Wedges will be available in the fall of 2005 with an MSRP of $159 per club.
